With so many walkie-talkies on the market today, it's good to do your research ahead of time before making your final purchasing decision. And deciding on which brand should definitely be one of your top areas to research. These days, you can find manufacturers such as Uniden, Midland, Garmin Rino, Cherokee, Audiovox, Cobra, Kenwood and Sylvania all easy to find. But what's the difference?
Let's explore that a bit now. Audiovox offers some nice features, such as earbud mics and a built-in flashlight, but Garmin Rino comes in with models that are incredibly feature-rich and offer options such as a built-in electronic compass, barometric sensor, weather receiver for seven NOAA weather channels, and 24 MBs of internal memory.
For Cobras, it's been said that you get more quality, features and piece of mind for the money. Kenwood reviewers generally have good things to say about the product line, and Cherokee tends to get high ratings as well, but one big difference that stands out is that each unit requires five batteries.
Midland provides a ton of different radios to choose from, all which seem pretty reasonably priced. Sylvania radios are sometimes hard to come by, but when you do, you'll find great audio input through the mic jack, which can also be used with an adapter. And Uniden walkie-talkies are generally known for it's crystal clear sound.
So, which one is the best? That's not for us to say. It really all depends on what you're seeking and what you're going to be using the unit for. Do your research. And no doubt you'll find one that meets your needs the best.
